Wuchtig und an vielen Stellen schon fast epochal brechen die Sounds aus Gitarren und Drums über den Hörer herein. Feinster Dark Metal mit eine unheimlich atmosphärischen Tiefe macht dieses Album aus. Und neben dem klasse Inhalt in musikalischer Form weiß "Chronicles Of A Dying Era" auch optisch voll zu überzeugen. Das Album erscheint als stilvoll aufgemachtes robustes Digipak und beinhaltet zudem ein schönes und mit allen Texten versehenes 20 seitiges CD Booklet. Hier bekommt man also verdammt viel Qualität für sein Geld - und das in allen Bereichen. Epochate comes close to the impact and grandeur in sound of their colleagues of Rammstein with this while they musically bring something completely different to the table. The songs of Epochate sound epic, powerful and catchy all at once and this seems to be a good recipe for commercial success. It would not surprise me if songs like ‘Substantia’ and ‘The Flood’ would be recorded for the soundtrack of an apocalyptic flavoured Hollywood movie. This first album of Epochate doesn’t only sound good but is also fun. Mission accomplished. Incredibile! Non trovo altre parole per descrivere il debutto degli Epochate, e lo straordinario lavoro svolto da Victor Love e Noras Blake per creare un sound così intrigante e allo stesso tempo innovativo. Gli Epochate solo con questo debutto hanno spostato di molto il confine musicale del già sentito. L'unico pensiero che mi passa per la testa è come faranno Victor e Noras a produrre un seguito che riesca a mantenere questa qualità. Ma non voglio iniziare a fasciarmi la testa prima del dovuto, intanto godiamoci questo lavoro e incrociamo le dita per il futuro. Le promesse ci sono tutte, per non lasciare che "Chronicles Of A Dying Era" rimanga un episodio isolato e irripetibile. Auch wenn dieses Projekt noch blutjung ist, verbergen sich dahinter doch zwei Vollblutmusiker, nämlich Victor Love (Dope Stars Inc.) und Noras Blake (Spineflesh/Edenyzed). EPOCHATE steht für Industrial Rock mit echtem Orchester, für apokalyptisches Drumming, schneidende Gitarren und einen mörderischen Gesang. Ein Sound, den zu kategorisieren schwer fällt - eine neue Dimension musikalischer Erfahrung tut sich auf. Auf der EPOCHATE MySpace Webseite könnt ihr euch vier der neuen Songs anhören. Siamo di fronte ad un progetto molto ambizioso, un concept album pregevolissimo e ben suonato. Già dal primo ascolto ci si innamora subito di questo disco, nel quale i raffinati arrangiamenti e la potentissima voce di Victor Love sono senza dubbio uno degli elementi di punta. Assolutamente pazzesca la opener e titletrack "Chronicles Of A Dying Era" che riassume tutta la qualità compositiva che caratterizza l'intero album. Wiederum erreicht uns dieser Tage ein sehr starkes Stück industriellen Metals aus Italien. Warum da auch immer Victor Love seine Finger irgendwie im Spiel haben muss, bleibt hier erstmal ungeklärt. Fakt ist, dass Epochate ein mehr als positives Debüt abliefern. Dies schaffen sie mit ganz viel orchestralen apokalyptischen Bombast und ohne irgendwo einfach nur abzukupfern. Von dieser Formation wird man mit Sicherheit noch zu hören bekommen The string elements are really excellent and when they are working with the bristling electronic stomp of ‘Substantia’ you realise that the album has completely fleshed out. Anyone asleep in that club will now be fully awake, any substances taken having them going into a blur of motion to this one. More sinuous, the flow of ‘The Flood’ is laden with a great keyboard flow and the tracks here all have a very distinct identity to them keeping this fresh and even invigorating through its running time. This is one of those albums that I wish was actually a bit longer as I feel the band have a lot more ideas but perhaps they want to explore these and expand upon their concept in the future. With the sinister flames of ‘Burning’ suggesting a city on fire and the more haywire keyboard cleave of ‘Introspection’ and its stormy chorus one cannot help wanting to dance even if the world is crumbling around them. If this is indeed the soundtrack to the end of days it’s as good a way as any to go out. Con un approccio concettuale non del tutto innovativo ma che avvolge a 360 gradi il qui presente progetto, partendo dalle magnifiche grafiche fino ad arrivare agli apocalittici testi, i romani Epochate piombano nel bel mezzo della scena industrial rock con un lavoro che, per essere un esordio composto in un lasso di tempo piuttosto breve, è davvero una bomba
From beginning to end Chronicles of a Dying Era is a stunning album. Blending the best of all the is Doom, Alternative and Metal into one package. Thesynths on this album are so tight that they mike it feel as if the band is playing with a full string section. Followed with some pretty insane drumming that feels like a mix of tribal destruction and sophisticatedsavagery . Il martellamento dei samplers e la voce sgraziata di Vicotr Love sono l’ideale strada di “mattoni gialli” che conducono a una Oz in decadenza. Le brevi boccate d’aria che il gruppo concede all’ascoltatore sono le partiture classiche, quasi da film, che il gruppo piazza in abbondanza nei pezzi. Ma anche in queste partiture c’è una strana sensazione di mistero, che lascia sempre un sentore di malessere. Non sono un amante del genere, ma gli Epochate mi hanno convinto. Un ottimo debutto, non resta che aspettare le prossime mosse del gruppo. Un plauso va alla nostrana Subsound che è riuscita ad accaparrarsi una band di sicuro avvenire. Gli Epochate sono un duo, formato da Victor Love e Noras Blake. Presentano questo album “Chronicles Of A Dying Era” prodotto dalla Subsound Records. Il lavoro è un concept album, un misto tra Industrial Metal e Doom, con un massiccio utilizzo di sintetizzatori e vari suoni orchestrali. In conclusione si può definire questo “Chronicles Of A Dying Era” un album interessante, pieno di spunti intelligenti ed originali, che riescono a rendere perfettamente l’idea del concept attraverso la musica proposta. Consigliato a tutti gli amanti dell’Industrial e del Doom. “Chronicles of a Dying Era” è un lavoro notevole, in cui l'Industrial Rock si combina con parti orchestrali di archi, che regalano ai riff chitarristici un crescendo sinfonico intenso, che rende il lavoro estremamente dinamico e originale.
Il cantato di Victor è sempre di grande efficacia, e questa volta accompagna un substrato musicale difficilmente inquadrabile dall'ascoltatore, che dovrà porsi con mente molto aperta nei confronti di questo album, che non può essere facilmente ricompreso in una scena musicale o in un'altra. Come il boato di un fulmine in una bellissima giornata di sole, irrompe sul mercato italiano e internazionale Epochate, il nuovo progetto di Victor Love (Dope Stars Inc.) e Noras Blake (Spineflesh, Edenyzed). Irrompe, sicuramente la congiunzione verbale migliore per descrivere un debutto dalla qualità esponenziale in un contesto musicale, quello electro industrial, ultimamente piuttosto avaro di soddisfazioni e sussulti meritevoli. Il CD, e qui sta il suo fascinoso aspetto manipolativo, riesce a catturarti in maniera totalizzante, sbattendoti letteralmente in faccia una realtà sociale indubbiamente poco attraente e piuttosto deprimente. Il duo si fa portatore di un sound a metà strada tra industrial e symphonic, con risultati veramente superlativi, da consegnare ai posteri come opera comparativa negli anni a venire. Il merito, oltre alle idee, va sicuramente dato anche alla produzione, sempre ad opera di Victor, che rende i pezzi scintillanti, cristallini e pomposi per quanto riguarda le orchestrazioni. Ecco, se dovessi trovare un aggettivo per descrivere gli Epochate, direi avvolgenti, visto che il tumulto di sensazioni suscitate dalla loro musica non può fare altro che avviluppare l'ascoltatore in un turbinio di sensazioni ed immagini vere e proprie, che collimano con la conclusiva strumentale “Of Shade And Light”, vero apice del disco che, con le sue melodie orientaleggianti ed epiche.... Whether this sort of recommendation would go down well with hardcore fans I don’t know. In fact, I don’t care - it makes no odds in the final analysis that here we have a pretty high quality product which given the right exposure will offer good listening to an audience right across the sound spectrum. I was very surprised when I heard that this project is a duo from Italy. Even the singing is perfectly accent and sounds more like an American singer. The musical style of the band is quite interesting and in this form is not presented too many artists. Is there really no more reason for you this CD or not to buy I can not help me, but what Dope Stars Inc. Mainman Victor Love in the last few months everything will be processed, it is downright abnormal. Or as someone from the environment S2M recently put it: Sleeps also the guy again sometime? Good question, because the Romans did not only just a new album and an EP with his band from the main sleeve shaken (the both of us until the summer should be available) and also various other Acts in Subsound own studio, but also Epochate baptized a two-man project to the starting place. There is still a significantly electronically than in the Dope Stars, because Epochate govern Industrial, ambiance, dance and orchestral Electronika from canned. Fortunately not, since both Noras Blake and Victor Love clearly understand their craft. Musically, there will also be in us as in the industrial gothic rock. All the songs are blessed with an own identity, and it feels like this album takes your hand and guides you through a journey each time you're listening to it again - without getting boring. Epochate doesn't really covers any music genre or subgenre - to describe it. Not something for the random or the close minded souls. (95/100) Industriale. Gotico. Eccessivo. Epochate could be the next big thing will be if they can preserve a constant class. What a hammer album. Even the beginning of the album exudes this scary feeling, caused by soft, but insistent strings. Then the song builds up to more and more until it finally in a orgiastic finale ends. A truly epochal work, so not really to be expected.
